Drawing from life is one of my biggest joys as an artist. Being able to observe and translate a human, animal, insect, or landscape from real time onto the page and to see how it shifts and changes depending on my experience and style is beyond fascinating and fun. To see what personality and mood explodes from the drawing is always a surprise and something I look forward to every time I draw from life. Many of these life drawings were done in class at CalArts taught under Linda Dorn where we would draw for almost six hours a day, exploring form, emotion, and drawing from live models. Others are from my time in France with live models, and on my own time.
